Q: Can anyone join?
If you agree that
1- we all own our own DNA and can contribute it to a common resource
2- the more similar and contrasting DNA, the better I'll be able to understand and to use my own genome.
It follows that everyone from any country, tribe, age, etc, should be encouraged to join.
Q: Do I need to have obtained my DNA information prior to using DNA\/ID?
You can create a profile and receive DNACoin. You can decide how you would want your DNA to be used if you had it. If you show up in queries for studies, the study sponsor may assist in getting your DNA information.
We are searching also for partners willing to provide sequencing services in exchange for DNACoin. This would allow to obtain your DNA directly from the website.
Q: What is this service called DNA\/ID? What does it mean?
The name is DNAVID: short for DNA Version ID. It simply means that it's our DNA but our ID is attached to it. We have an ID for our email, social networks, etc. This service provides an ID for our DNA information. Sometimes the letter V is replaced by backslash followed by forward slash \/ (and sometimes it looks similar).
I will post more questions that I hear often.
In the DNA\/ID spirit, actual questions are encouraged and this is the place to ask them for all the community to benefit. Just hit reply and become part of this!
